Name:
Rich Heap
Age:
33
Profession:
Filmmaker (!)
Number
of years climbing:
13 years, started in 1988 whilst at Salford Uni.
Favourite
crag and why?
Maybe the Tor (Ravens Tor) or Buoux just because I have the most
memories there.
Favourite
bouldering area and why?
Favourite
area has to be Font, cos. it¹s so extensive, has improbable
slopers and it always feels like you¹re on holiday when you
go there, which is adding up to be about three times a year of late.
The place I go to most is, at the moment, Stanage Plantation just
cos. it¹s so close to home and is great to escape to at 5 in
the afternoon. During the making of 'Stick It' most memorable areas
were Glen Nevis (cos. I really needed a dose of the mountains at
the time), the Bowderstone (couldn¹t believe I hadn¹t
met it¹s steepness before) and Wales in general, the joy of
the trips coming out in the footage I think. The grit in Yorkshire
is also bloody good too.
Favourite film?
Don¹t
really have a favourite film, don¹t seem to watch them more
than once and none stand out as having changed my life. I remember
them mostly for the time I saw them. Well into Indie American scene
(Oliver Stone, Todd Soldonz, Neil La Brute) and the English equivalent
Shane Meadows. Just like the idea of guerrilla seat of your pants
filmmaking.
Favourite
band or album?
Probably Belle and Sebastian's - are you feeling sinister. At least
this week. Geez I¹m not very good at committing.
What was the last book you read and did
you enjoy it?
Last two books were Tony Parsons - 'Man And Boy' (all right but
not as good as the Nick Hornby book, 'About A Boy', that covers
the same ground) and Earnest Hemmingway¹s 'The Old Man And
The Sea' which was awesome.
