The Cornice 'Water Cum Jolly'

If you have a weakness, in strength or technique, then this is the place to discover it. None of the routes provide easy picking for the grade so if your looking for a quick grade 8 tick, walk away! The driest approach is from Rubicon, cross the bridge and follow the path on the hill. Situated on the northside of the River, amongst trees, the crag gets the sun early in the morning and then subject to air temperature is great for the rest of the day. The Crag normally dries out in June, with conditions improving as you move towards autumn, however it doesn't take to many days of rain before the main seepage lines start to weep. Early season will see the need for a bit of route cleaning with a toothbrush. Some routes such as Albartrossity direct benefit greatly from a cool day when those final sloping holes feel a whole grade easier then in the heat of a summer's day.
